Job summary

Leica Microsystems, a Danaher operating company, seeks a Project Procurement Manager to drive procurement for New Product Introduction and strategic transitions. You will align scope, milestones, budgets, and risks with R&D, Operations, Quality, and suppliers, delivering transparent reporting.

You will foster early supplier involvement, optimize design-to-cost, negotiate agreements, monitor markets, and promote continuous improvement through DBS and Kaizen, with travel up to 25% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in project management, preferably in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain.
• Strong collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills in a global, matrixed organization.
• Experience in price and contract negotiations, ideally within high-mix, low-volume operations.
• Fluency in English at a professional negotiation level.
• Experience with SAP, e-procurement tools, Power BI and MS Office is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement activities for NPI and transition projects, defining scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and stakeholder requirements while ensuring transparent reporting and delivery against project tollgates.
• Drive supplier selection, qualification, and readiness in alignment with commodity strategies, including prototype sourcing, supplier onboarding, and management of critical components and long-lead items.
• Enable early supplier involvement and Design‑to‑Cost, leveraging supplier expertise to improve manufacturability, optimize material selection, manage technical changes and reduce Total Cost of Ownership.
• Negotiate and implement commercial agreements, including development contracts and pricing, lead times, service levels and other terms in coordination with Commodity Managers.
• Ensure cross-functional alignment, compliance, and continuous improvement by collaborating with R&D, Operations, Quality, Marketing, and Commodity Management, while maintaining accurate data, applying DBS tools, and sharing relevant market and technology insights.
