The SY-STI-BDE Section oversees the conceptual design, construction, operation, and maintenance of beam-intercepting devices across the CERN’s accelerator complex. The beam intercepting devices are precision mechanical equipment working in harsh environments that must be very reliable to guarantee the operation of CERN accelerators.

Are you passionate about mechanical engineering and skilled at multitasking? Join us and become part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the design, assembly, installation, and maintenance of beam-intercepting devices. You will support safety-critical systems and an efficient operation of CERN’s accelerators.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

• You are a national of aCERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
• By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in a technical or administrative field and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma or a shorter non-university degree. You can’t hold a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
