Jobbeschreibung

Tethys Robotics develops innovative robotic solutions for subsea inspection & investigation operations in challenging conditions. We serve governmental organizations, large asset operators and industrial service providers operating in high-demand and mission-critical environments.

As an ETH Zürich spin-off, we are a fast-growing pioneer in underwater robotics, rooted in Switzerland. As we scale our products and production capabilities, we are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the development and continuous improvement of our underwater robotic systems.

Tasks

As part of our hardware team, you will work directly on the mechanical development of our robots and help turn engineering concepts into functional, production-ready hardware.

Your work may include CAD design and mechanical engineering of components and assemblies, prototyping and iterative design improvements, preparation of manufacturing drawings, supporting assembly and hardware integration, designing and conducting mechanical tests, improving existing parts for manufacturability and robustness, and supporting the integration of sensors, payloads and new hardware modules.

You will work closely with experienced mechanical, electrical and production engineers and take ownership of clearly defined development projects.

This is a highly hands-on internship: you should enjoy turning ideas into physical hardware: from CAD and prototyping to assembly, integration and refinement.

Requirements

You are currently pursuing or recently completed a BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or a related field. You have solid CAD skills and enjoy practical engineering work beyond purely theoretical design.

Experience with prototyping, CNC manufacturing, additive manufacturing, mechanical assembly or testing is advantageous. More importantly, you work independently, pragmatically and accurately, are curious to understand how complete robotic systems work, and enjoy taking responsibility for your own engineering tasks.

Professional English is required.

Bonus points: Onshape, FEA, PLM/PDM, machine-shop experience, design for manufacturing, robotics or experience building your own technical projects.

Benefits

You will work directly on real robotic products rather than isolated internship exercises. You will receive substantial responsibility, work closely with experienced engineers and see your designs turn into physical systems.

Tethys offers a fast-moving engineering environment with short decision paths, modern development and production facilities in the Zurich area, and the opportunity to potentially grow into a permanent engineering role after the internship.

We value diversity:

Tethys Robotics encourages an inclusive culture. We promote equality of opportunity, value diversity and nurture a working and learning environment in which the rights and dignity of all are respected.
