Geothermie-Suisse is seeking a Managing Director to lead the secretariat in Bern, manage staff, and act as the face of the association to members and partners. The role requires strategic leadership, policy advocacy, and coordination of communications, events, and budgets.

The successful candidate will combine a solid technical foundation with strong communication skills, engage stakeholders, and drive membership growth while advancing education and R&D in geothermal energy.

Qualifications

• University degree in a technical or scientific field such as energy, engineering, geosciences or environment.
• Knowledge of the Swiss energy market and policy environment (actors, policy, renewable heat).
• Proven leadership experience with staff management.
• Experience in advocacy and networking with the Confederation, cantons, and politics.
• Native German or French with strong second language skills (English advantageous).
• Independence, initiative, and ability to work in a small team within an association.

Responsabilités

• Lead the office and team (transfer programme, communication and events, administration); recruit and lead staff.
• Represent the association to federal and cantonal authorities, partners, media, and the public.
• Represent sector interests and lead policy work on framework conditions for geothermal energy.
• Drive strategic projects and recruit/retain members, showing benefits of membership.
• Oversee budget, finances, mandates, and board/meeting preparation.
• Implement strategy in close collaboration with the board; report to the president.
• Promote continuing education and R&D in geothermal energy.
