Job summary

Lonza is seeking a Head of QA Bioconjugates in Visp, Switzerland. You will lead a team of supervisors and specialists, driving QA and compliance programs across multiple Bioconjugates sites and technologies.

You will shape the quality strategy, partner with operations leadership, and oversee large CAPEX projects while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and corporate standards. Fluency in English is required; German is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Academic degree in Natural Sciences/ Life Sciences.
• Significant experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, preferably in a Quality & Compliance function as RP/ FvP.
• Strong background in cGMP is an asset.
• Strong leadership and communication skills across interfaces and with regulators (Swissmedic, FDA).
• Experience representing Quality & Compliance in large investment projects and health authority inspections.

• Lead a team of supervisors and specialists in Bioconjugates Visp and manage QA/Compliance activities across multiple plants and technologies.
• Develop and lead the overall quality strategy for Bioconjugates and align with Manufacturing and Support Functions.
• Oversee Quality CAPEX Projects and ensure milestones and standards are met.
• Train and supervise staff; drive continuous improvements and establish an effective Quality Management System.
• Ensure QA activities comply with corporate requirements and regulatory standards (cGMP).

Job description

Location: the actual location of this job is in Visp, Switzerland. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families, if needed.

The Head of QA Bioconjugates (f/m/d) will lead a team of supervisors and specialists in one of the fastest growing business units in Lonza. He/she implements Quality Assurance capabilities that positively impact the quality strategy of the company. He/she will be accountable for the performance and results of the assigned area including the numerous large CAPEX projects and legacy customer projects. As a Quality and Compliance representative he/she will be a member of the Bioconjugates Leadership Team and will also be accountable for the quality strategy for the many large growth projects in Bioconjugates Visp.

• Manage all Quality and Compliance activities in multiple Bioconjugates plants of the Visp site covering different technologies.
• Setting up a team of supervisors and specialists. Gives leadership to the team with full responsibility for all aspects of human resource management such as qualification, development, coaching, hiring, pay decisions and discipline issues. Develop and lead the overall quality strategy for Bioconjugates.
• Partner with the Head of Operations MC1 and MC1 leadership team to ensure alignment of Manufacturing and Support Functions in executing the strategy.
• Oversee Quality CAPEX Projects and the respective teams ensuring quality standards and milestones are met. Responsible to implement and manage capabilities that support the success of the assigned investment projects
• Trains and supervises staff and works cooperatively with Ibex leadership to achieve quality and compliance goals. He/she champions continuous improvements efforts to establish an effective Quality Management System.
• Ensure that primary responsibilities of QA are executed in line with corporate requirements, industry best practices and current regulatory requirements (cGMPs).
• Responsible for resource and vacation planning of the assigned team members with regards to the fulfillment of all production orders.

What we are looking for:

• Academic degree in Natural Sciences/ Life Sciences.
• Significant experience in the area of biopharmaceutical manufacturing, preferably in a Quality & Compliance function as RP/ FvP.
• Strong background in cGMP is an asset.
• Strong leadership skills; very good communication skills and interaction with all kind of interfaces within the organization and with regulatory agencies (Swissmedic, FDA etc.).
• Strong team orientation. Structured, focused and well-organized working attitude; open-minded for new ideas and suggestions; agile, highly motivated and dynamic drive. Solution-oriented.
• Sound experience in representing Quality and Compliance in large investment investment projects, from planning to successful health authority inspections.
• Proficiency in English language is required; German is an advantage.
