Global Legal Officer – HR & Employment Law

Zusammenfassung

IOM, the UN Migration Agency, invites applications for a Legal Officer position in Geneva. You will provide legal advice on status, constitution, rules and activities of the Organization, focusing on human resources legal issues and internal justice processes.

You will conduct jurisprudence research, draft legal submissions, and support roll-out of Unified Staff Rules across country offices, contributing to case management and data analytics initiatives. Fluency in English is required.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree in Law with two years of relevant professional experience; or a law degree with four years of relevant professional experience.
• At least two years of practicing law, with experience in international administrative law.
• Experience advising on disciplinary matters and reviewing investigation reports is an advantage.
• Experience with disputes on employment-related issues is an advantage.
• Experience in analysing legal instruments, undertaking legal research, preparing comments and preliminary opinions, and drafting legal documents.
• Experience in addressing the privileges and immunities of an international organization; knowledge of digital case management and data visualization is advantageous.

Aufgaben

• Review investigation reports and referrals; prepare summaries with technical inputs for the supervisor and assist senior management.
• Address challenges in internal justice processes, including reviews, appeals, and ILOAT applications; draft recommendations for senior management.
• Conduct jurisprudence research on ILOAT cases and provide preliminary analyses to support legal advice.
• Review and assist with issuances, guidance and policies on personnel matters.
• Support roll-out of Unified Staff Rules to local staff through analysis of privileges and immunities and service conditions.
• Assist with legal inputs on privileges and immunities in employment disputes and advise Country Offices on national litigation.
• Review agreements relating to engagement of personnel and prepare templates.
• Prepare draft responses on interpretation and application of Unified Staff Regulations and Rules and IOM Instructions.
• Support digital transformation: case management systems, AI tools, data analytics, knowledge management and reporting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
