Job summary

Herzog & de Meuron in Basel seeks an experienced Interior Designer to join our Interiors team and shape distinctive spaces from concept through to realization on international projects.

You will collaborate with architects and suppliers, lead material research, specify FF&E, and present ideas to clients. The role requires 3–5 years of professional interior design experience, a degree in interior design or architecture, and proficiency in Rhino 3D, Enscape, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.

Qualifications

• A degree in Interior Design or Architecture from a university or university of applied sciences.
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience in interior design.
• A strong design sensibility with an excellent eye for materials, proportions and detail.
• Broad knowledge of materials, finishes, furniture and products.
• Fluency in English; German is an advantage.
• Experience managing a project or sub-project and communicating design ideas.

Responsibilities

• Develop interior design concepts and carry them through all project stages from concept to construction drawings.
• Translate ideas into engaging presentations for internal teams, clients and partners.
• Lead material research, development and sampling.
• Select and specify FF&E, materials and finishes.
• Develop and coordinate designs through drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Take ownership of work, priorities and timelines.

We are looking for an experienced Interior Designer to join our Interiors team in Basel and help shape distinctive spaces from the first idea through to realization.

In this role, you will work on ambitious international projects and contribute your design expertise, material knowledge and eye for detail throughout all project phases. You will be part of a collaborative, creative environment where ideas are developed through dialogue, experimentation and a strong commitment to design quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop compelling interior design concepts and carry them through all project stages, from initial concept to construction drawings
• Translate ideas into clear and engaging presentations for internal teams, clients and external partners
• Lead material research, development and sampling
• Select and specify FF&E, materials and finishes
• Develop and coordinate designs through presentations, drawings, specifications and schedules
• Take ownership of your work, priorities and timelines
• Collaborate closely with architects, designers, consultants, suppliers and project teams
• Contribute to our internal knowledge base by sharing lessons learned, innovations, new materials, products and industry contacts

Your profile

• A degree in Interior Design or Architecture from a university or university of applied sciences
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience in interior design
• A strong design sensibility and an excellent eye for materials, proportions and detail
• Broad knowledge of materials, finishes, furniture and products
• Excellent skills in Rhino 3D, Enscape, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
• A proactive, collaborative and solution-oriented approach
• Confidence in communicating and presenting design ideas
• Fluency in English; German is an advantage
• Experience managing a project or sub-project
• In-depth knowledge of sustainable design, materials and sourcing
• Experience with Revit
