Job summary

Novartis seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) for Data42 in Basel, Switzerland, working in a hybrid model (3 days in office). The role blends software, data engineering, and product-oriented problem solving to rapidly prototype and productionize AI applications with Foundry.

You will partner with domain teams to embed, define success, and deliver measurable outcomes, including end-to-end Foundry-based solutions and robust data pipelines, while ensuring operational durability and user adoption.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required in biology, bioengineering, bioinformatics, biostatistics or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in biomedical research, bioengineering, bioinformatics or related domain.
• Hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry is essential, building and operationalizing solutions with a Foundry-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Embed with domain teams to understand workflows, define success criteria, and translate needs into shipped capabilities; lead discovery and delivery from prototype to production.
• Design and implement end-to-end solutions in Foundry, including data pipelines, transformations, ontology alignment, and application workflows.
• Ingest, transform, and model diverse datasets for analytics and applications; define data quality checks.
