UN Secretariat in Geneva seeks a Human Rights Officer to develop and implement policies on human rights and digital technology, with emphasis on gender dimensions and UN integration.

You will monitor AI's impact on human rights, coordinate with international partners, and prepare sections of reports for UN bodies. The role requires leadership to supervise junior staff and represent the Office on relevant matters.

Qualifikationen

• Seven years of progressive experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, or law.
• At least three years of policy work related to digital technologies' impact on human rights.
• Three years drafting strategies or policies for digital technology and AI implications for rights.
• Experience advocating with states and companies on digital technology's human rights impact.
• Four years of international organization experience (UN desirable).

Aufgaben

• Develop and implement policies and training programs on human rights and digital technology.
• Integrate human rights and digital technology into UN and NGO programs.
• Represent the Office on human rights and digital technology matters.
• Review, monitor, and evaluate digital technology activities related to international human rights instruments.
• Support treaty bodies, extra-conventional mechanisms, and special procedures.
• Prepare human rights sections of reports for the General Assembly and Human Rights Council.
• Maintain current information on human rights and digital technology, providing recommendations.
• Liaise with UN sectors, international organizations, and governments on coordination and policy matters.
• Train and supervise junior staff.
• Perform other related duties as required.
