Mission

Our mission is to design, implement and manage a scalable and secure Kubernetes infrastructure for hosting our Node.js backends, PostgreSQL databases, and Vue.js web applications. By automating the deployment and management of these environments using infrastructure as code (IaC) and CI/CD tools, we guarantee the high availability, fault tolerance and security of our infrastructure. In collaboration with development teams, we ensure seamless integration between the different layers of the platform, while reinforcing monitoring, security and overall system performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain a scalable and secure Kubernetes infrastructure for running our Node.js backends, PostgreSQL databases, and Vue.js web applications.
• Automate deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
• Set up and manage Kubernetes clusters, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and security.

Infrastructure Automation & Management

• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm to automate provisioning and scaling of infrastructure.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and monitoring of applications across staging and production environments.
• Maintain and enhance Linux server configurations and environment for containerized applications.

Database and Application Operations

• Set up, monitor, and optimize the PostgreSQL database instances within Kubernetes, ensuring high availability, replication, and backups.
• Manage the containerization and deployment of Node.js backends and Vue.js frontends, ensuring seamless integration across the platform.

Monitoring & Security

• Implement and maintain monitoring and logging solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Datadog to ensure system health, performance, and security.
• Perform regular security audits and harden the infrastructure against threats, ensuring best practices for secure container orchestration, including secrets management.
• Handle disaster recovery, backup strategies, and ensure compliance with security policies and best practices.
• Work closely with development teams to ensure smooth and efficient development, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Collaborate with back-end, front-end, and database teams to ensure compatibility and performance across all layers of the stack.
• Provide support to troubleshoot and resolve issues in production and development environments.

Requirements

• Strong experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
• Solid knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automating deployments, and integrating with tools like Github Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
• Strong background in managing and configuring Linux-based environments.
• Proficient with PostgreSQL database operations (e.g., backups, replication, performance tuning).
• Familiar with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Helm, or Ansible.
• Knowledge of networking, load balancing, and security best practices within Kubernetes.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) in relation to Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with microservice architectures and scaling strategies.
• Understanding of Node.js application deployment and performance tuning in a containerized environment.
• Experience with service mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd.
• A permanent contract with 5 weeks of annual leave.
• Flexible working options with up to 3 days of remote work per week.
• Occasional business trip (on average 2-3 days per month, mostly in Switzerland).
