Job summary

Who is Hiring is seeking a senior Database Administrator in the Geneva area to manage SAP ASE and MS SQL Server environments. You will ensure data integrity, implement backups and DR plans, and optimize performance across critical business applications.

You will work with security controls, data migrations and automation scripts while collaborating with technical and functional teams in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in database administration with SAP ASE or MS SQL Server.
• Strong SQL/T-SQL skills and performance tuning experience.
• Knowledge of HA/DR, security, audits and data migrations.
• Scripting for automation and familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer SAP ASE and MS SQL Server databases, ensure availability and performance.
• Manage backups, restores, failover, DR tests and audit trails.
• Tune queries, monitor performance and implement improvements.
• Handle incidents, support data platform projects, document procedures.

Your mission

Administration and operation

Ensure the administration and proper functioning of the production SAP ASE (Sybase) and MS SQL Server databases

Guarantee the availability, reliability and performance of the databases supporting our business applications

Manage backups, restorations, high availability and disaster recovery, and regularly test their proper functioning

Perform tuning and performance optimisation, conduct audits and propose improvements

Handle level 2/3 incidents and problems within the database scope

Participate in projects to evolve our data platform

Ensure data security and compliance with current regulations, in an environment subject to medical confidentiality

Implement controls, alerts and access reviews

Provide support to technical and functional teams

Document procedures, runbooks and best practices, and automate recurring tasks

Your profile

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, databases or equivalent training

Experience: minimum 5 years in database administration, including confirmed experience with SAP ASE (Sybase) and/or MS SQL Server

Technical skills

• Expertise in SAP ASE (Sybase) and MS SQL Server administration
• Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL
• Experience in tuning and performance optimisation
• Good knowledge of database security and HA/DR (high availability and disaster recovery)
• Knowledge of data migration and replication tools
• Scripting (Shell, PowerShell or Python) for automation
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL is a plus
• Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes is a plus

Languages

Fluent French, English level B1/B2 minimum required, German is a real asset
