In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing trading strategies across European short-term power markets, with a particular focus on the UK market. While acting as a specialist for Great Britain (GB) power trading, you will actively participate in the trading and optimization of Alpiq's wider European portfolio covering Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Nordic power markets. The role combines UK market specialization with broader participation in Alpiq's CWE and Nordic trading activities.
You will be joining a team of experienced traders and algo traders operating across Europe on a 7/7-day shift basis during extended working hours. The team is responsible for proprietary trading activities as well as the optimization of renewable assets and batteries from DA down to balancing markets. Working closely with analysts, quantitative researchers, meteorologists, IT developers and our 24/7 intraday desk, you will contribute to maximizing value creation in increasingly automated and data-driven power markets.
While serving as the UK's market expert within the desk, you will contribute to the overall performance of the CWE & Nordics short-term trading team. Your ability to connect developments in the UK market with dynamics across Continental Europe and the Nordics will help capture cross-market opportunities and strengthen Alpiq's pan-European trading capabilities.
