Job description

A privately owned family investment business in Zurich is adding to its small finance team. You will be the go-to person for the reliability of the portfolio and accounting data. That means following up on anomalies yourself rather than passing them on, and being comfortable handling confidential matters close to the owners.

Inside the business, you will work with counterparts across different functions, from the principals and senior management through to the planning and operational teams. Externally, you will deal with banks, fund administrators, trustees, accountants and tax advisors.

The role starts on a one-year contract, with the intention of making it permanent.

What you'll do
  • Close and accounts: Support the monthly, quarterly and year-end close. Help produce management and statutory financial statements for entities in several countries, working alongside external accountants and auditors.
  • Investment records: Keep the investment records complete and up to date, including transactions, capital calls, distributions, valuations and quarterly NAVs. Tie them out to statements from custodian banks, general partners and fund administrators.
  • Portfolio reporting: Prepare the regular portfolio reporting pack for the principals across all asset classes. Compute and check return metrics (IRR, MOIC, TVPI, DPI) in both the original currency and CHF.
  • Valuations and trackers: Help value both listed and private positions. Keep trackers current for commitments, drawdowns and fee accruals.
  • Planning and payments: Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash and liquidity planning. Oversee invoice processing and payments from end to end, including VAT handling and sign-off procedures.
  • Finance infrastructure: Take part in rolling out a new ERP system, covering chart-of-accounts mapping, data migration and user testing. Build and maintain reliable Excel models and control checks, and document internal processes.
What you bring
  • A university degree in business, finance or economics
  • At least two years in a controlling role, ideally from Big Four audit or financial services
  • A firm grasp of accounting standards and financial reporting
  • Strong Excel skills, including building financial models and reconciling large datasets
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • The right to work in Switzerland, or the ability to work on site in Zurich
  • Experience in a family office environment is an advantage
