Job summary

Paraprofessionals are sought by District 215 to assist teachers in delivering the district's curriculum and supporting student achievement. You will work with general education, at-risk, and special education students, providing instructional support and monitoring progress under supervision.

You will prepare materials, work with small groups or individuals, and help implement interventions and behavior plans as directed by the Supervising Teacher and Building Administrator.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 32 college credits or an associate's degree or higher
• Paraprofessional Praxis score of 460 or higher
• Ability to work with staff, students, and the public
• Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed
• Willingness to follow directions and be patient

Responsibilities

• Helps the teacher provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment
• Prepares for classroom activities under supervision
• Works with small groups or individual students to reinforce materials
• Assists students in need of intervention or attention
• Performs clerical duties related to the assignment
• Assists in implementing student interventions and/or IEPs
• Supervises testing and make-up work
• Maintains confidentiality and ethical standards
• Assists with classroom displays, bulletin boards, and materials preparation
• Regular attendance and willingness to work with students with challenging behaviors
