Job summary

Lonza Group Ltd. in Basel and Stein, Switzerland, seeks an (Associate) Principal Scientist Bioanalytics to lead pharmaceutical development projects within Development Bioanalytics (DevBA).

You will drive on-time delivery of analytical work packages, from pre-clinical stages to advanced development, with strong focus on quality and ISO-compliant investigations. You will apply deep expertise in CBAs, ELISA, SPR, and cell culture, coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with customers

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Analytical Science, or related Life Sciences field or equivalent experience is required.
• Minimum 2–3 years of industrial Life Sciences experience as a research or technical expert, preferably with potency assays for modalities such as mAbs, Bi/trispecifics, enzymes, peptides, or ADCs.
• Strong expertise in setup, optimization, transfer, and troubleshooting of cell-based assays (CBAs) and broad knowledge of analytical techniques including mammalian cell culture and ligand-binding assays (ELISA, enzyme assays, SPR).
• Good knowledge of analytical method guidelines (ICH Q14 / ICH Q2).
• Excellent communication, teamwork, flexibility, and ability to manage complexity.
• Fluent English required; other languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage pharmaceutical development projects within Development Bioanalytics (DevBA) from various customers and pre-clinical phases.
• Ensure on-time delivery of work packages, including testing results, documents, reports, pre-validation, non-GMP batch release, and stability studies; lead investigations per ISO standards.
• Proactively address risks and resolve delivery issues with clear communication to stakeholders.
• Represent DevBA in Lonza internal and customer meetings as SME (Subject Matter Expert).
• Support stakeholders to maintain planning tools and project tracking.
