Job summary

Lonza Group Ltd. in Basel is seeking an Associate Principal Scientist-Bioanalytical Expert to lead and oversee analytical activities for biologics under GMP.

You will plan, review and approve lab work, manage method transfers and validations, and act as a primary customer liaison. The role requires strong expertise in bioanalytical methods, cGMP experience, and excellent communication skills to present findings at conferences and in publications.

Qualifications

• Master degree required.
• Significant work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
• Min. 3 years of experience with cGMP work.
• Knowledge of several bioanalytical methodologies, including mammalian cell culture, preparation of primary cells, cell-based assays, ligand binding assays, etc
• Prior experience supporting and presenting in audits is desirable.
• Ability to lead complex investigations under GMP
• Familiarity with electronic documentation systems (lab notebook, document management, LIMS)
• Excellent communication skills, team player, flexible and able to manage complexity
• Proficient knowledge of written and spoken English. Any other languages are a plus

What you will do:

• Hold responsibility for planning, review and approval of analytical laboratory work for biologics, including method transfer and validation of potency assays for clinical and commercial products under GMP
• Responsible for analytical methods such as cell-based assays, ELISA/LBA, etc.
• Act as point of contact for customers
• Handle GMP-compliant documentation and processes
• Contribute to scientific field or technique by solving scientific problems within the department including complex investigations under GMP
• Presenting work at scientific conferences or in peer-reviewed publications

What we are looking for:
