Bechtle Suisse is seeking an experienced Application Manager for a client in Fribourg to oversee the management, maintenance, and development of applications in education and cultural affairs.

You will coordinate external partners, manage lifecycle, define technical specs, monitor budgets, and provide third-level support. Master’s or Bachelor’s in CS with 5–7 years of relevant experience and fluent French are preferred.

Application Manager (m/f/d)

On behalf of our client based in Fribourg, we are looking for an Application Manager (m/f/d) responsible for managing, maintaining, and developing applications in the fields of education and cultural affairs.

Your mission

Manage support, maintenance, and the application lifecycle, including evolutionary and adaptive maintenance activities. Analyse needs and functional specifications with stakeholders, then define the technical specifications necessary for their implementation. Oversee software development carried out with external partners, ensure monitoring of suppliers, mandates, and contracts. Supervise daily operations, manage deployments of new versions, and provide third-level application support. Advise users on application developments, keep documentation up to date, and monitor operating budgets and expenses.

Your profile

Higher education in computer science at HES, University, EPF level, federal certificate or diploma, or equivalent training, along with proven experience in application management, with at least 5 years of specific experience with a Master's degree or 7 years with a Bachelor's degree. Proficiency in Jira Service Management, Jira, and Confluence, as well as good knowledge of ITIL processes; ITIL certification considered an asset. Experience in supplier and contract management, software lifecycle management, and application delivery according to Scrum methodology; Scrum certification and software development experience are assets. Good knowledge of .NET, Java, Git, Azure DevOps, Tomcat, IIS, MS SQL Server, Windows Server, microservices, and APIs, with excellent command of French, a strong service orientation, autonomy, good analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Residence in Romandy. (no remote work possible)
