We are looking for a motivated Analytical Scientist to join Analytical Research & Development (ARD). ARD sits within the Technical R&D Department of Development and plays an essential role in the characterization and analysis of Drug Substances (DS) and Drug Products (DP) from the time they leave the discovery lab until they are transferred to commercial production.
The role responsibilities include performing and documenting scientific experiments for drug substances (DS) and drug products (DP) in collaboration with multifunctional project teams and using state-of-the-art analytical techniques. Advanced analytical characterization of complex pharmaceutical compounds is essential for the successful development and manufacture of innovative medicines.
The position:
- Develop and implement analytical methods for the characterization and quantification of drug substances and drug products.
- Plan, execute, document, interpret and report scientific experiments (e.g., analytical method development and testing) according to agreed timelines and appropriate quality standards.
- Contribute to the development and expansion of the analytical toolbox based on state-of-the-art techniques, including but not limited to LC-MS, UHPLC, HPLC and UV-Vis, to support analytical development activities.
- Participate in scientific exchange groups and present scientific findings to internal stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot analytical methods and instrumentation issues, providing scientific rationale and practical solutions.
- Implement and maintain lean, efficient and environmentally sustainable practices in the laboratory. Contribute to maintenance of lab instruments and day-to-day laboratory operations.
- Meet appropriate quality standards and agreed timelines in all assigned projects.
- Responsible for good documentation and laboratory practices during execution of laboratory activities.
What you bring:
- Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with analytical methods and separation techniques such as UHPLC, HPLC, LC-MS, GC, and UV-Vis, including analytical method development, optimization and validation.
- Strong analytical chemistry knowledge and hands-on laboratory experience in the characterization of pharmaceutical compounds.
- Innovative and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to develop novel approaches to complex scientific challenges and drive implementation of new analytical technologies and methodologies.
- Good knowledge of relevant analytical software, such as Empower, Chromeleon, MassHunter, Xcalibur or equivalent chromatography software.
- Understanding of ICH guidelines, GMP principles and regulatory requirements related to analytical testing.
- Ability to work effectively in international and multidisciplinary teams, both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Fluency in English.
Nice to haves:
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, radiopharmaceutical or analytical development environments.
- Experience with analytical method troubleshooting and technology transfer activities.
- Experience with impurity analysis, stability studies and analytical characterization of drug substances and drug products.
- Knowledge of advanced mass spectrometry techniques is considered an advantage.
