Novartis Pharma AG is seeking an AI/ML scientist with deep expertise in digital pathology to join the Oncology Data Science team. The role combines oncology drug discovery with AI/ML, translational research, and cutting-edge imaging analytics in Basel or Cambridge with onsite relocation offered.

You will develop deep learning models for pathology data, collaborate with pathologists and translational teams, and contribute to publications and conferences.

Qualifikationen

• Ph.D. in ML, CS,Applied Mathematics or related field.
• MSc with 4+ years of relevant industry experience will be considered.
• Strong experience analyzing pathology imaging modalities including H&E, IHC, multiplex IF, and/or spatial transcriptomics.
• Understanding of ML methods for segmentation, classification, detection, and representation learning.
• Experience in generative AI, digital pathology foundation models, geometric deep learning or multi-modal learning.
• Excellent programming skills with PyTorch; willingness to learn new tools.

Aufgaben

• Develop and apply AI/deep learning to extract insights from digital pathology imaging datasets (H&E, IHC, mIF, spatial transcriptomics).
• Work with foundational models including pre-trained, self-supervised, multi-purpose, and multi-modal models for generative AI in drug discovery.
• Support imaging biomarker development by analysing pathology data and collaborating with pathologists and translational teams.
• Contribute to evaluation, validation and benchmarking of image analysis algorithms and workflows.
• Perform tissue segmentation, cell phenotyping, feature extraction and spatial analysis using state-of-the-art computational approaches.
• Stay current with advances in computational pathology, AI/ML and spatial biology; contribute to publications and conferences.
