Zusammenfassung

An international research organization in Switzerland is seeking a motivated individual for a role focused on sensor applications within the SensiPipe project. Responsibilities include acting as the main link between project partners, collecting user requirements, and optimising the design of 3D-printed systems. Candidates should possess relevant experience in additive manufacturing and good skills in CAD and FEA tools. Fluency in English and French is required. This position offers a competitive stipend and a hybrid work model with a contract of 24 months, extendable to 36 months.

Aufgaben

Job Description

Overview

You will work closely with CERN and CSEM specialists as the central contributor to the SensiPipe project, with the goal of bringing to production readiness a 3D-printed pipe segment embedding sensing elements in its inner wall. The position is shared equally between CERN and CSEM's main premises in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the main link between the three Partners in the project (CERM, CSEM and Lisi aerospace).
  • Collect the user requirements into a Technical Specification document to be used as guideline along the project.
  • Explore the best suited resin for insulation and sealing.
  • Follow up the production of the planned AM lots at Lisi.
  • Produce the required reports documenting milestones and deliverables along the project.
  • Select and procure the best suited off-the-shelf miniaturised sensors to be integrated, select the best suited standard for the electrical connector.
  • Optimise the design and engineering of the "SensiPipe" segment with 3D design software, conduct structural and material simulation using FEA software, and optimize the integration of the off-the-shelf sensors and the deposition of the conductive tracks.

Eligibility criteria
  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Material Science (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
