Job summary

City of Surrey is seeking a Zumba Instructor (Fitness Instructor 2) to teach Zumba programs across recreation facilities. This auxiliary role may include weekends, weekdays and evenings, requiring strong communication and customer service. Must hold Grade 12, Zumba license, and First Aid/CPR-A plus AED, with BCRPA or CFES registration.

Pay Grade: Schedule D Hourly Rate: $34.59. Eligible applicants may need a Police Information Check. Closing date: Oct 16, 2026.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 or equivalent and related fitness certifications.
• Certified Zumba Instructor with current license.
• Emergency First Aid (CPR-A) and AED required.

SCOPE We are looking for certified Zumba Instructors that love fitness, motivating people and are committed to providing great customer service to teach a variety of classes at recreation facilities across the City. We have various positions available teaching a wide range of fitness classes including:

• Zumba Instructors (Zumba, Zumba Gold)

You are self-motivated, skilled at building relationships, have strong and clear communication skills and have a passion for health and wellness. This is an auxiliary position which may include weekends, weekdays and/or evenings shifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plans and leads a variety of Zumba programs.
• Instructs participants of all levels and abilities.
• Motivates and leads large groups – from beginners to long time fitness enthusiasts.
• Applies knowledge and implements industry best practices.
• Provides exceptional customer service to patrons and colleagues.
• Demonstrates proper form, technique, and exercise modifications.
• Communicates effectively using clear verbal and non-verbal cues to instruct participants.
• Adapts classes to accommodate varying abilities and fitness levels.
• Ensures instructional spaces are safe, clean, and properly set up.
• Fosters a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
• Performs basic cleaning duties as required.
• Completes administrative tasks, including but not limited to facility/shift check completion and accident reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 plus formal training and minimum of six (6) months related experience.
• Emergency First Aid with CPR-A and AED (or higher).
• Zumba License.
• BCRPA or CFES Group Fitness registration.
