Overview

MEI is an independent Pre-K-12 school system with over 1500 students. All applicants must be dedicated to Christian education. MEI Middle & Elementary Schools are seeking qualified applicants for the following position covering a leave starting January 5, 2026.

Position

MEI Middle and Elementary Schools – Youth and Child Care Worker

This is a full-time temporary position starting January 5, 2026, to June 26, 2026, with the possibility of being extended. The Youth and Child Care Worker is a 10-month position that follows the school calendar with interruptions of work during spring and summer break.

The hourly rate for this position is $33.30.

The Youth and Child Care Worker will work with kindergarten to grade 8 students. The successful applicant will provide guidance, ongoing assistance and support to students in the Middle School for 4 days a week and will spend time in the Elementary School 1 day a week.

Key Roles Of The Successful Candidate Will Include
  • Building connections with students and becoming part of the MEI fabric
  • Teaching social and emotional regulation skills to all students in classroom-based instruction
  • Working with small groups of students on social/friendship skills
  • Providing short-term one-on-one counselling sessions for students
  • Liaising with community partners such as Child Youth Mental Health and others
  • Partnering with parents and walking them through a referral process when additional counselling, psychiatric, or medical help is necessary
Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a field related to the role of youth worker and experience working with middle and elementary students. Successful experience in a K-8 school setting would be an asset for this position.
