Job summary

Nexim Healthcare seeks a qualified X-ray technician for our client in Red Lake, ON. The role involves performing X-ray procedures, ensuring patient care, and operating radiology equipment in a hospital setting.

The incumbent will maintain regulatory registrations (CAMRT and Ontario College of Medical Radiation Technologists), keep CME credits up to date, and participate in a quality assurance program. On-call duties during evenings, weekends and holidays are required.

Qualifications

• Qualified Medical Radiation Technologist; graduate of a recognized school.
• Registration with CAMRT.
• Registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario.
• Maintain active registry status by obtaining 25 CME credits each year.
• Previous experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and special X-Rays as requested by Medical Staff.
• Positions and operates equipment to obtain diagnostic images with patient care.
• Provides Holter and Event Loop Recorder Monitoring.
• Assesses diagnostic quality of radiographs and notifies doctor of pathology or STAT reads.
• Applies ALARA radiation protection principles for self, patients, and public.
• Maintains X-ray and CR equipment and handles minor breakdowns.
• Records problems with equipment and keeps area clean.
• Manages day-to-day department operations and related forms.
• Participates in the departmental quality assurance program.
• Rotational on-call duties in evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Understands CR and PACS systems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. 1. Performs all routine and special procedure X-Rays, as requested by Medical Staff
2. 2. Selects, positions and operates equipment as determined to be desirable for the examination(s) concerned; providing proper patient care
3. 3. Provides Holter and Event Loop Recorder Monitoring
4. 4. Assess the diagnostic quality of radiographic images and takes appropriate corrective action, as required. Records if a doctor is informed of pathology seen and if a STAT read has been requested
5. 5. Knowledgeable of and consistently make use of good radiation protection methods and techniques. Ensures adequate protection for his/herself, for client, and his/her family, and for the public (ALARA principle)
6. 6. Maintains X-ray and CR equipment in efficient operating condition, dealing with most minor breakdowns
7. 7. Records any and all problems with equipment
8. 8. Maintains cleanliness of assigned work area
9. 9. Day-to-day operation of the department (i.e., appointments and related office procedures; including shredding confidential files, preparing CDs, stocking appointment forms, holter forms, fax forms, etc.)
10. 10. Must actively participate in the departmental quality assurance program
11. 11. Responsible for working on a rotational basis or as scheduled on call in evenings, weekends and holidays.
12. 12. Performs other related duties as may be required by Administrator or his/her designate.
13. 13. Have an understanding of CR and PACS systems.

Job Types: Seasonal for 9 weeks

Salary: $45.00 - $50 per hour
