Job summary

Job description

This posting is for one (1) full-time permanent position

The Edmonton Police Service has an opportunity for a highly organized and competent individual to provide assistance with the collection, review, approval and dissemination of intelligence related products and reports, along with managing and maintaining databases within the EPS. The successful candidate will work in a team environment, consisting of Sworn and Civilian members within the Operations and Intelligence Command Centre in a fast‑paced environment. Responsibilities of this position will include :

  • Query, collect, collate, interpret, draft, and distribute documents including target sheets, bulletins, briefing notes, and regularly scheduled workload reports.
  • Data mine for entities of interest, possible targets, and / or person of interest.
  • Scan criminal events and crime trends to identify persons of interest and make recommendations for appropriate response.
  • Respond to requests for information from internal and external stakeholders within identified timelines while following set business rules in place.
  • Review Police occurrence reports and Street Check Reports (SCR’s) in addition to other intelligence reports.
  • Research, identify, and collect online posts to support EPS investigations through the use of open‑source techniques.
  • Applying appropriate information classifications to information shared and received.
  • Provide administrative support to members of the Operations and Intelligence Command Center and frontline members.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
Job Requirements
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects with emphasis on subjects related to the area of specialization or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school / college.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a progressively specialized area.
  • Criminal Intelligence Analysis Certificate would be an asset.
  • Displays objective decision‑making skills with critical analysis and evaluation skills.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of COGNOS, iBase, Analyst Notebook, EPROS, CPIC, JOIN, ORCA and other related databases.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to enter data with a high degree of accuracy and speed.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision as part of a team.

  • As part of your pre‑hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re‑Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work

40.00 hours per week,12 hour shifts in a rotational 2 days, 2 nights, and 4 off schedule, Monday - Sunday.

Salary Range

21B, Salary Grade : 013, $27.813 - $34.876 (Hourly), $2,225.00 - $2,790.10 (Bi‑Weekly), $58,073.54 - $72,821.09 (Annually).
