What You’ll Do
  • Supervise road construction, maintenance, harvesting, and log hauling to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations supporting the sawmill.
  • Develop and manage short- and long-term operational plans, prepare cut blocks for harvest, and coordinate scheduling with contractors.
  • Oversee service contractors, conduct safety and environmental audits, and ensure compliance with the Annual Fire Plan and Work Schedules.
  • Monitor and report production and costs, maintain wood quality and supply targets, and liaise with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) on operational issues.
What You Offer
  • Degree or diploma in forestry or business, with at least 5 years of experience in forest operations planning and project costing.
  • Familiar with OH&S regulations and forestry-related laws; proficient in MS Office, GIS software (ARCGIS, ArcView), and GPS tools.
  • Strong communication (bilingual an asset), leadership, organizational, negotiation, and decision-making skills; results-driven with sound judgment.
  • Able to work in remote forested areas and varying conditions; must have a valid Ontario driver’s license and be willing to travel as needed.
