Job Summary
The Women Shelter Manager will oversee the daily operations of the women’s shelter, providing leadership and support to staff and volunteers while ensuring a safe and supportive environment for residents. The manager will coordinate services, manage resources, and implement programs that promote the well‑being and empowerment of women.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management:
- Supervise and support shelter staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Program Development & Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services that address the needs of shelter residents.
- Collaborate with community partners and agencies to enhance available services.
- Identify funding opportunities and assist in grant writing as needed.
- Resident Support:
- Ensure that residents receive appropriate services, including case management, counseling, and support groups.
- Maintain regular communication with residents to assess needs and facilitate access to resources.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Manage shelter budgets, including tracking expenses and ensuring proper allocation of resources.
- Maintain accurate records related to resident intake, services provided, and other necessary documentation.
- Prepare reports for management and funding organizations as required.
- Crisis Management:
- Respond swiftly to crises or emergencies, ensuring the safety and well‑being of residents and staff.
- Mediate conflicts among residents and promote a harmonious living environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in management, social services, or shelter operations, preferably in a women’s shelter or similar environment
- Strong understanding of issues related to domestic violence, homelessness, and women’s health.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and community partners.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work on a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Working Conditions
This position may require occasional lifting of supplies and materials, as well as evening and weekend responsibilities. The shelter environment can be high‑pressure, and the candidate must possess strong emotional resilience and conflict management skills.
