Wireman I, Global Supply Chain, Edmonton Plant
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Shift: 1st or 2nd shift
Schedule: regular with overtime as needed
We design and manufacture applications and electrical schemes for Motor Control Centers and Low Voltage Switchboards. This position is offered as a 6‑month contract with the possibility of extension or permanent employment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform point‑to‑point control/power wiring and routing per workmanship standards.
- Fit and mount sub‑assemblies, components, and standard fixed assemblies in electrical control equipment.
- Perform assembly required for test preparation and final inspection.
- Use established checking procedures and equipment to verify electrical/mechanical integrity of units assembled.
- Maintain quality standards by inspecting and testing finished products to ensure conformance with specifications and codes.
- Ensure assignments meet acceptable quantity and perfect quality requirements.
- Follow established procedures/work instructions for assigned functions.
- Handle materials in accordance with established procedures.
- Observe good housekeeping and safety procedures; keep equipment, tools, and work area clean and orderly.
- Support teammates during high demand by working assigned hours and overtime as required, and comply with scheduled start/stop times and break periods.
- Participate on local teams to improve site conditions, productivity, and performance.
- Lift up to 35 lbs. (with reasonable accommodation as required).
- Work in a timely manner to fulfill customer needs and meet deadlines while maintaining productivity goals.
- Perform other functions as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited school.
- One or more years of experience in electrical assembly or a manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and how they work.
- Ability to read and work to blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
- Self‑motivated, energetic, and capable of working in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in a manufacturing work setting.
- Ability to work overtime during the week and on weekends, as required.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
