Job summary

The Township of Wellington North is hiring for a Seasonal Winter Maintenance position in Kenilworth, with duties across township yards. The role involves safe operation of snowplows and related equipment, road plowing, salting, inspections, and documentation.

The successful candidate will join a team committed to safety, service, and community wellbeing for the winter season. Holders of a DZ or AZ license with a clean record are preferred, and workers must be available for early mornings,

Qualifications

• Valid DZ or AZ license with a clean driving record.
• Experience operating DZ/AZ vehicles or heavy equipment.
• Reliable, adaptable and willing to respond to winter events.
• Able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate snowplows and winter maintenance equipment.
• Plow roads and assist with snow/ice control.
• Apply salt and sand to improve road conditions.
• Complete vehicle inspections and routine maintenance.
• Monitor weather and adjust operations as needed.
• Load winter maintenance materials as required.
• Respond to winter weather events and emergencies.
• Complete daily documentation and operational records.
• Work safely following Township policies and provincial legislation.
• Support the team throughout the winter season.

What You’ll Do:

• Safely operate snowplows, and other winter maintenance equipment.
• Plow roads and assist with snow and ice control operations.

• Monitor changing weather and road conditions while adjusting operations as needed.
• Assist with loading winter maintenance materials.
• Respond to winter weather events and emergency operations.
• Complete daily documentation and operational records.
• Work safely while following Township policies and provincial legislation.
• Support the team throughout the winter season.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

• Holds a valid DZ or AZ Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Has experience operating DZ or AZ vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
• Takes pride in operating equipment safely and professionally.
• Is dependable, adaptable, and willing to respond when winter weather arrives.

• Can work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Summary

• This is a Seasonal Contract from approximately November 2026 to April 2027 position.
• Number of vacancies: 5
• Normal hours of work may vary including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. On-call and standby responsibilities.
• Working across the Township yards; Kenilworth, Damascus, Arthur and Mount Forest.
