Job summary

Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) is seeking a student to support the Thrive Venture Fund (TVF) with investment memos, due diligence analysis, and market research. You will track portfolio activity and assist in events and ecosystem activities, gaining exposure to Canadian entrepreneurs and venture capital processes.

• Event Support: Plan and organize events, workshops and ecosystem gatherings, handling logistics and follow-up.
• General Team Support: Participate in team meetings and ongoing projects supporting strategic priorities.

BDC’s Thrive Venture Fund (TVF) is the largest of its kind globally, investing in Canada’s leading female entrepreneurs to drive transformative impact. The $350M fund was launched in the Fall of 2022 with a focused objective of investing in women-led, high growth, innovative technology companies in Canada. We invest in venture-profile, women-led technology companies at the pre-Seed through Series C stage that are: Solving problems with technology in large markets with growth potential Pairing big ambition with execution capabilities Dependent on stage, demonstrating early product-market fit with the potential for long-term sustainable competitive advantages

This role is temporary from January to August 2026.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a student, you will support the TVF with a variety of tasks, including:

• Investment Support: Assist in preparing and writing investment memos, synthesizing key insights from due diligence and financial analysis.
• Research and analyze emerging markets, sectors, and business models aligned with the different focus areas.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Track portfolio company activity and relevant trends across social media and digital platforms to inform internal updates and storytelling.
• Event Support: Assist in the planning and organization of events, workshops, and ecosystem gatherings, including logistics, materials, and follow-up.
• General Team Support: Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and ongoing projects that contribute to strategic priorities.
