An established industry player is seeking a Wind Turbine Blade Technician – Level 1 to ensure the integrity and performance of wind turbine blades. This role involves inspecting and repairing fiberglass and composite blades, conducting defect analysis, and documenting findings for engineering review. Qualifications

Job description

Job Description:

The Wind Turbine Blade Technician – Level 1 will be responsible for the internal and external inspections, defect analysis, and Category 1-3 repair of fiberglass and composite blades, hub/nose cone, and nacelles from all categories.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Inspect and photograph internal & external blade damage, document findings, and assemble all associated paperwork as required to be posted for further action by Engineering;
  • Perform coating and minor structural repairs on internal and external blade surfaces, tip repair, leading and trailing edge repair while following guidelines provided by Engineering;
  • Utilize blade access platforms at heights of 300ft or more;
  • Help in all areas of site preparation (i.e. coordination of labour and materials) with minimal supervision;
  • Document all work performed using mobile-based service reporting procedures;
  • Understand lamination principles and post curing;
  • Ability and willingness to work, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments;
  • Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions;
  • Be in a good physical condition in order to be able to perform necessary work tasks;
  • Ability to travel – 100% of assignments and requires working overtime, including working a flexible and variable work schedule as needed to meet customer needs
  • Ability and willingness to climb stairs and ladders 60-125 meters in height, ability to lift push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs in weight, and the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record history (e.g. No suspensions or restrictions)

Educational requirement: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, preference given to those with Renewable Energy education

Training and Certifications – Confined Space & Rescue, LOTO, GWO BST and ART, WHMIS, Arc Flash, Resp Fit Test
