As a Aquatics & Wildlife Co-op or Summer Student, you will join our Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta offices as part of our Western Aquatics & Wildlife team for a 4 or 8-month term starting May 2026. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of soil, vegetation, wetlands and wildlife projects with responsibilities as follows:

  • Active participation in maintaining Montrose’s strong safety culture

  • Assist with the coordination and execution of aquatics and wildlife surveys

  • Assist with field survey data management

  • Assist with the preparation of reports

  • Travel, often to remote locations, will be required to carry out field programs.

What We Are Looking For
  • Must be enrolled in terrestrial ecology, biology, environmental science, renewable resource management or similar technical or undergraduate program at a recognized post-secondary institution

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • A valid class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions.

  • Experience with off-highway vehicles (i.e., ARGO, UTV) and trailer towing would be considered an asset

  • Cares about their safety and the safety of others

  • Brings knowledge of terrestrial sciences and assessment practices

  • Works easily in a team

  • Is thoughtful, thorough and inquisitive in completing office and field tasks

  • Has energy and desire to support others and respond to the changing needs of a dynamic environment
