Job description

Safety isn't just a checkbox at Amazon — it's a mission. As a Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Specialist at Amazon's Barrhaven, Ontario facility, you'll be the designated safety champion on the floor, working to protect the people who power one of the world's most innovative operations. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who wants to lead meaningful change in workplace health and safety.

Day to day, you'll be conducting safety audits, investigating incidents, assessing risk, and delivering training that actually resonates with people. But beyond the technical work, this role is about building relationships and influencing culture — helping frontline associates and leadership alike make safety a natural part of how they work.

About the Role: WHS Specialist

As the on-site safety lead, you'll drive comprehensive safety programs using data-driven strategies. That means leading daily audits, carrying out incident investigations and risk assessments, and implementing solutions to prevent injuries before they happen. You'll deliver safety training that goes beyond the basics — creating engagement and building a proactive safety culture across the building.

You’ll also serve as a trusted advocate for associate wellbeing, building partnerships at every level of the organisation. Whether you’re coaching frontline workers or presenting safety data insights to leadership, your goal is the same: make safety everyone’s priority. The role includes physical demands such as lifting up to 49 pounds, standing or walking for up to 12 hours, working in variable temperatures, and being available for flexible shifts including days, nights, and weekends.

Benefits and Salary

Amazon offers a base hourly wage of $29.37 to $40.38 CAD for this position, with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location. The total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Amazon provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, and basic life & AD&D insurance), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.
