Job summary

Amazon Inc. seeks a Wellness Specialist to join the Workplace Health & Safety team at a Calgary Fulfillment Center. The role focuses on onsite injury prevention, ergonomic training, and proactive safety, reporting to the Site WHS Manager.

You will work with associates to improve movement techniques and wellbeing. The role involves lifting up to 49 pounds, standing up to 12 hours, and adapting to variable temperatures and noise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in athletic therapy, human kinetics, physiotherapy, ergonomics, or kinesiology.
• Experience with an industrial wellness program.
• Experience in an occupational or industrial setting.
• Experience working with a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Lead onsite injury prevention and proactive safety at the Fulfillment Center.
• Design and implement ergonomic interventions based on risk assessments and injury trends.
• Deliver ergonomic education and coach associates to improve wellbeing.
• Maintain effective care delivery and assist emergency response at the site.
• Lift up to 49 pounds and stand for long shifts in variable environments.

To support these goals, Amazon is seeking an experienced Wellness Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be a part of the local WHS team and will lead both onsite injury prevention and proactive safety. This position will work in an Amazon Fulfillment Center and report directly to the Site WHS Manager. You will work closely with Amazon associates one‑on‑one with the goal to improve physical movement techniques prior to the onset of soreness or injury through ergonomic training and engagement.

Core Impact Areas

• Proactive Prevention - Drive injury prevention through advanced data analysis and evidence‑based solutions. Design and implement targeted ergonomic interventions based on risk assessment findings and injury trends. Lead comprehensive workplace evaluations to identify and eliminate potential hazards before they cause harm. Transform complex injury data into actionable strategies that protect associates and optimize work processes.

Wellness Education

• Champion a culture of proactive health and injury prevention through innovative training programs and hands‑on coaching. Develop and deliver engaging ergonomic education that empowers associates to make informed decisions about their wellbeing. Build trusted partnerships with operations teams to integrate prevention strategies into daily workflows. Create sustainable behavior change through personalized coaching and positive reinforcement techniques.

Additional Job Elements

• Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
• Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.
• Work in an environment where the noise level varies.
• Work in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments).
• Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs).
• Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.

Certifications Required Within 3 Weeks of Start Date

• Alberta: Standard first aid level A or C from any accredited Canadian certifying authority in Alberta.
• British Columbia: Intermediate first aid from WorkSafe BC or an entity recognized by WorkSafe BC.
• Ontario: Standard first aid level A or C from a Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) approved certifying authority.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above

Preferred Qualifications

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
