Overview

Cochrane is located in the Bow Valley corridor in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in southern Alberta. The Town is growing and seeks an Asset Management Lead to join the Corporate Strategy team. The role leads the development and implementation of the Town’s Asset Management Program, guiding infrastructure planning and investment decisions with data-driven analysis and lifecycle planning across asset classes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Town’s Asset Management Program, plans, and roadmap.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the Asset Management policy, strategy, and framework aligned with strategic, financial, and service-level priorities.
  • Serve as the asset management subject matter expert, advising leadership and departments on best practices, risk, and investment decisions.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental working committees to embed asset management practices across operations and achieve organizational alignment.
  • Promote a culture of asset management awareness, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Guide the creation and maintenance of comprehensive asset inventories and ensure accurate, reliable, and integrated data across GIS, TCA, and other systems.
  • Guide condition assessments, lifecycle planning, and risk evaluations to inform capital planning, maintenance strategies, and long-term service delivery.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools to assess asset performance, forecasts, financial needs, and service delivery metrics.
  • Provide data-driven analysis, recommendations, and forecasts to support sustainable investment, risk mitigation, and service optimization.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in asset management within a municipal or public-sector context (subject matter expertise preferred).
  • Strong strategic thinking, data analysis, and lifecycle planning capabilities.
  • Ability to lead cross-departmental collaboration and facilitate committees.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency with asset data systems and reporting tools.
