What to expect

The Welding Technologist is responsible to assist the welding engineers in completing quarterly visits, and reports at our retained CWB clients; assist in the generation of welding procedures, conduct training programs, complete technical / consulting projects and welding specialist for the Automotive Repair Program.

Delivery of Retained Engineering Service
  • Visit local clients and complete quarterly retained engineer’s visit and report on behalf of the CWB Consulting Retained Engineer
  • Preparation of Welding Procedures under the guidance of one of the CWB Consulting engineers
  • Visually assess the fabricated assemblies in accordance with the fabrication standard, both during welding and upon completion
  • Consult with the client on actions required to achieve or maintain CWB certification
  • Review all reports created with the client, ensuring they are thorough and accurate so that they will meet all CWB audit requirements
  • Ensure clients are aware of other services offered by CWB Consulting
Delivery of Welding Training
  • Prepare quotes for training based on a clear scope of services defined by the client
  • Secure contract signature for training
  • Work with the client to arrange suitable times for delivery of training
  • Complete required training using standard presentations or create custom presentation
  • Training could be theory and or practical hands‑on training of SMAW, GMAW, FCAW / MCAW, GTAW, or SAW for carbon and or stainless steels
  • Training, witnessing and evaluation of the Automotive Repair Program
Complete Technical Projects
  • Prepare quotes based on client scope
  • Secure contract signature for project
  • Work with the client to arrange suitable times for completion of the project
  • Complete project based on applicable code, standard or customer specification
  • Write report and delivery of Executive Summary at the client
  • Ensure clients are aware of other services offered by CWB Consulting
  • Ensure certified clients continue to meet the requirements of certification
Business Development
  • Raise the awareness with clients of all CWB Consulting product / service lines and the benefits associated with them
  • Promote certification to new / potential clients
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Sales Department to assist with lead generation
Other duties as assigned
  • Generation of Welding Procedures (WPS and WPDS’s)

In this position, you will report to the Business Manager, Consulting and will work out of their home office in Canada. Travel can be expected for approximately 2 weeks per month. CWB is adopting a remote‑first working model, where employees will work from their home office, servicing the client within their specified areas either remotely or in person. We are embracing radical flexibility, where employees are encouraged to work a schedule that works best for them, their team, and their clients.

What you bring to the table
  • Certified Level 1 or 2 Inspector
  • Qualified Welding Supervisor
  • Secondary School, Welding Technician or Welding Technologists diploma
  • 5 years relevant work experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Technical background and technical knowledge of the welding and joining industry
  • Must have knowledge of welding and testing standards
  • Practical Welding Experience, Welding Inspector, Welding Educator / Trainer, Welding Supervision or Welding Engineer
