Job summary

Fortis Mining Engineering & Manufacturing is seeking highly motivated Welders (Site Based) for underground and surface work. You will read blueprints, perform structural welds to meet prints and quality standards, and strictly follow safety procedures on site.

We value safety-conscious individuals with CWB SMAW All Position and fall protection certifications, able to lift up to 50 pounds and with a valid 5A license.

Qualifications

• CWB SMAW All Position certification is required.
• Valid fall protection certification is required.
• Experience in a safety-sensitive environment is required.
• Experience in a construction environment is an asset.
• Comfortable working at heights is essential.
• Valid 5A Driver’s License is required.
• Any safety-related training certificates are beneficial but not required.
• Must be physically fit to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
• Perform welds on new and existing structural steel per engineered prints.
• Follow safety procedures and permits throughout work.
• Install rigging and hoisting equipment as needed.
• Disassemble and install structural steel components.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices.

Quality work and timely completion of all aspects of work performed is required. What You’ll Be Doing

• Project assignment many include underground and/or surface work
• Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
• Participation in the preparation and following of safety procedures & permits throughout the course of their work
• Install various types of rigging and other hoisting equipment
• Disassembly and/or removal of existing structural steel components
• Assemble and/or installation of new or modified structural steel components
• Operator hoisting and lifting devices

What You Bring to the Table

• CWB certification SMAW All Position
• Valid fall protection certification
• Experience working in a safety-sensitive environment
• Experience in a construction environment is considered an asset
• Comfortable working at heights
• Valid 5A Driver’s License is required
• Any safety-related training and certificates would be beneficial, but not required
• Must be physically fit and able safely lift heavy loads up to 50 pounds
