Job description
Job Summary

As a Welder, you will be responsible for executing high-quality welds on metal components used in the construction, repair, and maintenance of marine vessels. Working from provided instructions and weld specifications, you will apply the assigned welding procedures to ensure work meets required quality and safety standards. While ensuring accuracy and consistency in your work, you will also collaborate closely with fitters and other trades to support efficient project execution.

Key Responsibilities / Duties
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines for operational safety.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections of tools, equipment, and materials to ensure they are in safe working condition.
  • Reference weld symbols on blueprints and drawings to identify weld size and type as per project specifications.
  • Weld steel structures while reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, including welding symbols.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed to support quality control and project documentation.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to meet deadlines, proactively identifying and addressing potential delays while proposing solutions to management.
  • Collaborate and assist colleagues with daily operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested to support operations.
Requirements
  • Strong commitment to safety and strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Possess 2+ years of hands-on welding experience in construction or maintenance settings.
  • Previous or current CWB certification is an asset.
  • Previous experience in ship repair is considered an asset.
  • Understanding crane signals and terminology is considered an asset.
  • Experience in overhead crane operation is considered an asset.
  • A valid Red Seal Trade Certification 456A is considered an asset.
  • Experience in FCAW, and SMAW processes is preferred.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Must have adequate physical fitness to fulfill demanding tasks with a willingness to work in various weather conditions year-round.
