Job summary

Major Drilling in Rouyn-Noranda is seeking an experienced licensed Welder to join our shop team. You will diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy‑duty equipment, read drawings and welding symbols, and weld components using MIG and other processes to exact standards.

We offer an excellent starting wage, paid training, and an RRSP plan. This role follows a Monday–Friday schedule, 7:30am–4:00pm, in person at 230 Bd Industriel, Rouyn‑Noranda, QC.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson welder certification required or asset.
• Experience repairing mining or heavy equipment preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clear driving record.
• Ability to pass a drug/alcohol screen and be fit for duty.
• Ability to work with limited supervision or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding on heavy‑duty equipment using MIG and other processes.
• Read and interpret specifications, drawings, welding symbols, and work orders.
• Assemble and weld raw materials and fabricated components per specifications.
• Adjust voltage and amperage to meet welding requirements.
• Operate hand tools, plasma cutter, and welding equipment.
• Position parts in fixtures and operate cranes as needed.
• Finish welds to required standards and keep work area clean.

In this role, you will diagnose, maintain, and repair a wide range of heavy-duty equipment. You will work closely with our operations and maintenance teams to ensure our equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for the field.

Key Responsibilities

Perform welding operations using various processes on heavy-duty equipment

Read and interpret specifications, drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and work orders

Assemble and weld raw materials and fabricated components using MIG and other welding processes

Adjust voltage and amperage settings as required

Operate hand tools, powered tools, plasma cutting torch, and welding equipment

Position and clamp parts in fixtures and operate overhead bridge cranes / jib cranes

Chip, clean, grind, and finish welds to required standards

Use smoke extractors and anti-splatter products as required

Report repair issues, equipment delays, and maintenance concerns to the Supervisor

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Adhere strictly to all HSEC policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Welder certification, red seal is an asset.
• Experience working with mining or heavy equipment repairs and customizations.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract.
• Ability to pass a Drug/Alcohol Screen & Fit for Duty test.
• Ability to work with limited supervision or as part of a team.
• Knowledge of the mining industry considered an asset Work Schedule:
