Job summary

MacLean Engineering & Marketing Co. is seeking skilled welders to read drawings, fit and weld parts up to L1, and operate various welding processes (GMAW, SMAW, FAW, OAW). You will also grind, cut, and shape metal components, and assist with repairs as needed.

The role involves crane and forklift operation, strict safety, and documentation of Engineering Change Requests. Minimum 1+ year welding experience with a high school diploma is required, with C of Q welding preferred.

Qualifications

  • Requires minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • C of Q in Welding or related coursework preferred.
  • 1+ years of fitting and welding experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineered drawings, blueprints, or welding process specifications with minimal supervision.
  • Competent at efficiently and timely fitting and welding all parts designated for L1 by Supervisor.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment (GMAW, FAW, SMAW, OAW).
  • Operate hand and bench grinder to shape and prepare metal parts.
  • Operate metal cutting/forming equipment (bandsaw, bending, straightening).
  • Operate flame/plasma cutting equipment for repairs.
  • Operate material handling devices (overhead/gantry crane, forklift) with safety practices.
  • Assist with equipment/product repairs as needed.
  • Document Engineering Change Requests under supervision.

Job description

  • Read and interpret engineered drawings, blueprints, or welding process specifications with minimal supervision.
  • Competent at efficiently and timely fitting and welding all parts designated for L1 by Supervisor.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas metal arc (GMAW), flux-cored arc (FAW), shielded metal arc (SMAW), and oxy-acetylene (OAW).
  • Operate hand and bench grinder to shape and prepare metal parts for welding.
  • Operate metal shaping or cutting machines such as bandsaw, and other metal straightening and bending machines.
  • Operate flame/plasma cutting equipment for repairs.
  • Operate material handling devices such as overhead crane, gantry crane, and forklift in compliance with applicable safety standards and best practices. Material handling includes safe rigging and transportation of various loads.
  • Assist with equipment/product repairs as needed.
  • Document Engineering Change Requests according to applicable procedures under direction of Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Education
  • Minimum High School Diploma or Certificate of Completion
  • Completion of a C of Q in Welding or some college/industry courses in welding is preferred
Experience
  • One (1) + years’ experience fitting and welding is required
Working Conditions
  • Factory setting
  • Standing/walking for prolonged periods

  • Required to wear PPE on shop floor at all times
