Job summary

Ferrovial in Hamilton, Ontario, is seeking a seasonal highway maintenance worker reporting to the Capital Works Supervisor. The role involves maintaining contracted assets such as bridges, culverts, roadways, median barriers and signs.

Winter duties include snow/ice removal using appropriate equipment. Summer tasks cover cleaning and maintaining bridges, culverts, shoulders and guiderail, plus vehicle/equipment operation for surface and ROW work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of three (3) years related work experience in bridge/road construction and maintenance (outdoor work).
• DZ driver's license (DZ) preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Winter: removal of snow and ice using snow removal/sanding equipment.
• Summer: maintain and repair bridges, culverts, shoulders, signs, guiderail and other highway inventory.
• Operate vehicles and equipment for surface and right-of-way maintenance.
• Traffic control setup/removal per OTM Book 7; transport crew/equipment to sites.
• Be available for overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays; assist as needed.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Capital Works Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining contracted assets (Bridges, culverts, roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) per standards and conditions specified in the contract.

We offer competitive pay and other seasonal benefits. The pay range for this position is $25.50-$26.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Winter Season

• Removal of snow and ice by using snow removal and/or sanding equipment.

Summer Season

• Clean, Maintain and repair: bridges, culverts, shoulders, signs, guiderail and other highway inventory.
• Operate vehicles and equipment as required : for surface and right-of-way maintenance and repair of bridges, culverts, shoulders, etc.

As Required

• Traffic control setup and removal in accordance with OTM Book 7
• Transport crew and equipment to work sites
• Be available for emergency response rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Other duties as assigned by the Contract Manager.
