About Camp Quin-Mo-Lac
Camp QML is celebrating our 75th anniversary this year!! We are sponsored by the United Church of Canada and our mandate is “to encourage in a year-round setting, the development of skills for living with others in a community which fosters growth in Christian faith and service.” As each child comes to camp, it is intentional that they be part of an active and vital caring community of young people and to do that WE NEED YOU!
We are a residential overnight camp for co-ed campers aged 7-14 years old, located on Moira Lake (halfway between Madoc and Tweed, north of Belleville). QML has 240 acres of land, mostly woods with some fields. We have 2 kms of shoreline and an island that we also use for programming. Our programs include crafts, music, canoeing, high ropes, low ropes, archery, orienteering, initiatives, swimming, rock climbing, hiking and overnights. Our campers stay for 1 week in either cabins or our lodge with a group of similar-aged peers and 3-4 counsellors.
Work begins for our staff with a staff training Retreat May 3rd weekend and then a full staff orientation and training week that occurs June 27- July 1st. Staff spend camp weeks onsite and may sleep in a camper cabin or staff cabin depending on the role. Our staff come from all over Ontario (and beyond) and most return year after year. Camp staff have a 3-hour break between Co-ed 1-2, Co-ed 3-4, and Co-ed 5-6 and a 3-day break between Co-ed 2-3, Co-ed 4-5, and Co-ed 6-7. Staff is responsible for bringing their own toiletries and linen. Staff join our campers for all meals.
