Job summary

Veolia North America is seeking a technically skilled operator to maintain and optimize water and wastewater systems. You will monitor processes, collect samples, interpret lab results, and document activities while adhering to regulatory requirements and safety standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork, continuous learning, and the use of control systems to sustain compliant operations at multiple sites. A valid MECP certificate and a Class G license are required.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with environmental regulations applicable to water and wastewater facilities.
• Valid MECP Water / Wastewater operating certificate(s) and/or licenses as per facility requirements.
• Valid Class G Driver’s License.
• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Post-Secondary Education in an Environmental program would be an asset.
• Post-Secondary Education in a Technical Trade (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) would be an asset.
• Knowledge of Activated Sludge and wastewater treatment processes.
• Knowledge of water distribution and pumping systems.

Responsibilities

• Adjusts, inspects and evaluates processes and equipment to optimize performance and regulatory compliance.
• Operates and monitors system process equipment (valves, pumps, HVAC, dosing equipment).
• Makes process adjustments and responds to alarms to ensure safe operation.
• Maintains records and documentation of process activities.
• Ensures efficient operation and personal performance within regulations.
• Collects samples, performs routine lab tests and records results.
• Interprets lab results and makes necessary adjustments.
• Uses PCS/SCADA/LIMS/WMS systems for operations and maintenance.
• Performs preventative maintenance and checks equipment condition.
• Monitors equipment performance with a focus on reliability and safety.
