Your Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed studies, modeling, and design tasks on a wide variety of water resources projects from planning and conceptual design through preliminary/detailed design, implementation, and operational support.
• Lead stormwater, sanitary, and potable water components for projects in a dynamic design team setting.
• Develop hydrologic/hydraulic models to support floodplain analysis, design of flood mitigation measures, culvert and storm sewer network assessment, low‑impact development practices, and preparation of drainage and stormwater management design briefs and master plans.
• Coordinate with senior engineers, modellers, and project leaders to ensure project needs and priorities are met.
• Plan and execute field investigations for drainage infrastructure assessments and designs.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and other documentation for clients, review agencies, and the public.
• Mentor junior technical staff and review work for high accuracy.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Sound understanding of water and environmental engineering principles, with demonstrated experience in hydrology and hydraulics.
• Experience in stormwater management planning and design for site development, watercourse crossings, stormwater facilities, and transportation projects.
• Experience with floodplain analysis, erosion protection, and natural channel design (asset).
• Knowledge of stormwater guidelines and regulations for the Atlantic region.
• Proficiency with hydrologic/hydraulic software: HEC‑HMS, PCSWMM, HEC‑RAS, OTTHYMO, HEC‑2, GIS, Culvert Master, HY8, Infoworks, DHI Mike, and other models.
• Exposure to developing, calibrating, and interpreting hydraulic/hydrologic models.
• Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and (asset) Microstation and Civil 3D.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work on both small and large multidisciplinary project teams.
• Additional skills (coding, river engineering, climate change, asset management, coastal engineering) are assets.
• Experience supporting and/or preparing proposals.
• Excellent presentation and technical report writing skills.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, water resources, or environmental engineering.
• Registered or eligible for registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in Newfoundland and/or Nova Scotia.
• Minimum five years’ experience in water resources engineering with local municipalities and regulators.

Typical office environment: working with computers and remaining seated for long periods of time. Hybrid option is available.

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
