Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Water Resources Analyst to support diverse civil infrastructure projects in Canada. You will prepare designs, drawings, calculations, and reports for stormwater, watermain, and sanitary systems, and assist with drainage plans and transit infrastructure.

The role involves hydrologic/hydraulic modelling, design of stormwater facilities, and collaboration with Senior Engineers and Project Managers. A bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years’ consulting experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering; 1–3 years in consulting.

Responsibilities

  • Support civil infrastructure projects across land development, transportation, transit, municipal infrastructure, and highway projects.
  • Prepare designs, drawings, calculations, and reports for stormwater, watermain and sewer systems, site grading and servicing, drainage plans, roads, utilities and transit infrastructure.
  • Model hydrologic and hydraulic systems using industry software to support stormwater management, drainage studies, flood assessments, and infrastructure design.
  • Assist with the design of stormwater management systems and Low Impact Development solutions.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoWorks, Visual OTTHYMO, HEC-RAS, and PCSWMM for design and drawings.
  • Gain exposure to project management through planning, coordination, scheduling, and delivery processes.
  • Support planning, design and construction phases under guidance of Senior Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Assist Project Managers with coordination, tracking deliverables and documenting technical information.
  • Assist in developing project specifications, quantities and cost estimates.
  • Assist with field investigations, data collection and technical assessments.
  • Participate in construction support activities and contract administration.
  • Support quality control to ensure accuracy and readability of drawings and adherence to standards.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and report hazards.
  • Develop professional skills through training and associations toward licensure.
  • Support additional assignments within the Civil Division as required.

Job description

  • Participate as a Water Resources Analyst supporting a variety of civil infrastructure projects, including land development, transportation, transit, municipal infrastructure, and highway projects.
  • Prepare engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and technical reports for projects involving stormwater management, functional servicing, municipal watermain and sewer systems (storm and sanitary), site grading and servicing, drainage plans, roadways, utilities, and transit infrastructure.
  • Assist with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling activities using industry-standard software to support stormwater management, drainage studies, flood assessments, and infrastructure design.
  • Support the design of stormwater management systems, including stormwater management facilities, drainage infrastructure, erosion and sediment control measures, and Low Impact Development (LID) solutions.
  • Utilize tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, OpenRoads/InRoads, and Civil 3D to develop engineering design and contract drawings.
  • Gain exposure to project management activities through involvement in project planning, coordination, scheduling, and delivery processes.
  • Support the planning, design, and construction phases of civil infrastructure projects, including municipal, transportation, transit, and land development projects, under the guidance of Senior Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Assist Project Managers with project coordination activities, including tracking deliverables, coordinating technical information, and supporting project documentation.
  • Assist in developing project specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
  • Assist with field investigations, data collection, and technical assessments to support engineering analysis and design.
  • Participate in construction support activities, including site reviews, responding to technical inquiries, and supporting contract administration activities.
  • Support quality control and assurance measures throughout the project to maintain the accuracy of design elements, the presentation of technical details, the readability of drawings, and adherence to design standards.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards to the supervisor.
  • Continuously develop professional skills through training, workshops, seminars, and professional association involvement while progressing toward professional licensure.
  • Support additional assignments and initiatives within the Civil Division as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with 1-3 years of relevant consulting experience.
  • Working toward licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced consulting environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet project deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of industry-relevant software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoWorks, Visual OTTHYMO, HEC-RAS, and PCSWMM.
  • Understanding of civil engineering principles, design standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to municipal, transportation, and water resources projects.
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Able to prioritize tasks with excellent organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on industry trends.
