Job summary

GHD is seeking a Waste Management Graduate Engineer to join our growing Canadian operations in Waterloo, Mississauga, Toronto, or Ottawa, Ontario. This role provides exposure to a range of waste management projects and a pathway to industry leadership.

You will join a multidisciplinary team and contribute to studies, design, permitting, and field support while collaborating with civil, environmental, electrical, and mechanical engineers across Ontario.

Qualifications

• Civil or Environmental Engineering degree required.
• Recent graduate (graduated within the last 2 years).
• Maximum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Knowledge of waste management, technologies and regulations will be an asset.
• Willingness and ability for travel within Ontario and Canada for meetings, site visits, and to conduct field work.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to waste projects that include landfills, transfer stations, recycling facilities, anaerobic digestion facilities, composting facilities, and/or waste-to-energy facilities.
• Support landfill and facility contract administration, construction oversight, site inspection/monitoring, and operations support, including with full‑time site work for projects.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of studies, conceptual and detail designs, permitting and approvals.
• Contribute to the development and coordination of construction contract documents, field notes, mark‑up drawings, preliminary quantity take‑offs, cost estimates, payment certification, and reporting.
• Effectively communicate and connect with team members, contractors, clients, regulatory authorities, and the general public.
• Support preparation of proposals and strategic business development activities with other team members.
