Job summary

Cando Rail & Terminals Ltd. is seeking a Wash Technician to oversee safe wash and dry operations and inspect poly hopper cars. The role involves taking day-to-day instructions from the Supervisor and coordinating with on-site switching partners to complete activities.

The position emphasizes following procedures, performing equipment rounds, housekeeping, and reporting safety issues. Applicants should be physically fit and prepared to work day and night shifts year-round.

Qualifications

• Must be physically capable of pulling self up/down from a railcar.
• Knowledge of technology and computer systems.
• Ability to obtain required certification and medical clearances.
• Willing to work day and night shifts, 365 days a year.

Responsibilities

• Know and follow applicable procedures and safety rules.
• Execute daily rounds of wash equipment and wash bay.
• Clean out and tidy designated areas; perform housekeeping.
• Report safety concerns and equipment issues promptly.
• Complete daily reports and logs as required.
• Participate in training or company initiatives as needed.
• Protect life, safety and company property at all times.
• Collaborate with team to deliver excellent customer service.

The Wash Technician is responsible for safe wash/dry operations and inspection of poly hopper cars. The Wash Technician will take day to day work instruction from the Supervisor and work in conjunction with the on site switching provider to complete switching activities.

• Knowing and understanding applicable procedures, operating procedures, basic maintenance and escalation requirements.
• Execute daily rounds of the wash equipment and wash bay.
• Clean out, remove excess product in designated area. As well as general housekeeping.
• Promptly report all safety concerns, and equipment issues
• Complete daily reports, daily logs, and other reports deemed necessary
• Participate in training or company initiatives as required
• Exert “best effort” to protect human life, human safety and company property
• Actively participate with the team and provide excellent customer service while promoting a superior company image

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

• Excellent teamwork skills
• Physically fit including the ability to pull self-up and down from a railcar on a continuous basis.
• Knowledge of technology and computer systems
• Ability to obtain certification and medical clearances to perform the role
• Be able and willing to work day and night shifts, 365 days a year

Education & Experience

• Rail car wash and drying system and associated equipment and Rail car Vacuum System (operation) considered an asset
• Experience in the maintenance and housekeeping of rail cars
