Overview
As a member of the Amer Sports Canada team, the Weekend Warehouse Shift Supervisor will be responsible for the direct management and handling of all warehousing and distribution functions at the Belleville Distribution Centre facility. This includes accountability for inbound and outbound freight, as well as adherence to legislative, safety, and organizational policies and procedures. The Warehouse Supervisor will accomplish effective logistical oversight through strong leadership and decision‑making skills. The weekend shift runs Friday to Sunday (3 days) – 12hr shift from 3pm to 3am.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to:
- Supervise unionized floor staff to ensure effective use of staff
- Develop manpower schedules based on anticipated inbound and outbound workflow
- Co‑ordinate the storage of product making efficient use of warehouse floor space using SAP driven configuration
- Work with other departments as necessary to ensure customer needs are identified and procedures documented for Distribution Centre staff
- Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory values
- Handle follow‑up and resolution of claims or shortages, damaged goods and over‑billings according to approved company procedures
- Verify and approve time sheets for each employee, in addition to holiday scheduling
- Provide coverage for other warehouse supervisors during holidays/vacations/leaves/other absences as required
- Train & monitor staff in safe work practices, including new employee onboarding
- Communicate with other supervisors and managers as required
- Exhibit leadership by setting clear expectations and upholding high standards of work practices and safety‑conscious behavior
- Possess a strong understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, ensuring Health & Safety compliance in accordance with company policies
- Monitor Distribution Centre performance against service standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education, Skills & Experience
- College diploma and/or University degree: Equivalent combination of post‑secondary education and directly related experience can be considered. Specializing in business or supply chain management is an asset.
- Managerial/Supervisory/Leadership Skills: Prior experience in leading/coaching floor in a unionized environment. At least five (5) years of warehouse/logistics/distribution experience.
- Ability to Adapt: Able to quickly change priorities and focus based upon business demands.
- Self‑confidence and excellent Communication skills: Skilled in effective communication, both oral and written, with team members and department leaders across the organization
- Attention to detail with outstanding follow‑through and time management skills: Proficient in managing high‑pressure environments and adept at multitasking to ensure timely and thorough completion of all responsibilities, even when faced with conflicting priorities. Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks
- Ability to read, interpret, and carry out written and oral instructions.
