Afternoon Shift

The Role

Warehouse Lead Hand coordinates inbound, inventory, and production support operations to ensure accurate, safe, and timely movement of goods while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and team performance. This role drives operational excellence through hands‑on leadership, process improvement, and effective coordination across warehouse and production functions.

Duties and Responsibilities
Inbound & Receiving Operations
  • Plan and organize inbound shipments in a scheduled and efficient manner.
  • Assign, direct, and monitor tasks of receiving team members.
  • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and invoices.
  • Inspect goods for damages, shortages, or discrepancies.
  • Post all inbound shipments in ERP (JF).
  • Ensure rejected items are isolated, labeled, and reported for corrective action.
  • Follow FIFO/FEFO stock rotation principles.
  • Suggest improvements to receiving workflows to reduce risk and delays.
  • Enforce adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure all products are placed in proper temperature zones (ambient, cooler, freezer, dry, etc).
Inventory Management
  • Maintain inventory of materials and parts needed to complete production.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
  • Generate and review inventory accuracy reports; report trends and issues to management.
  • Maintain accurate bin locations and ensure items are stored in designated areas.
  • Coordinate and document inventory transfers between departments or facilities.
  • Identify and report obsolete, expired, or slow-moving inventory for disposition planning.
  • Assist with internal and external inventory audits.
  • Lead or support full physical inventory counts (e.g., monthly, quarterly or annual).
  • Ensure item master data in ERP (e.g., units of measure, lot numbers) is accurate and current.
  • Track and report inventory KPIs such as turnover, shrinkage, and fill rate.
Production Support
  • Stage and batch production materials according to the required Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Coordinate and monitor logistics of parts, supplies, and materials within the facility.
  • Ensure products meet accepted quality standards before release to production.
  • Prepare and maintain reports on work progress, materials used, and production rates using manual or computerized systems.
  • Manage return items from Production to ensure proper put‑away.
Training & Floor Leadership
  • Train new staff on receiving procedures, safety practices, food safety practices and company policies.
  • Train and evaluate associates on Reach forklift and Power Walkie operation.
  • Support implementation of digital systems (e.g., barcode scanning, ERP, HACCP monitoring tools).
  • Take part in root cause analysis for non‑conformities and support corrective actions.
Qualification and Experience
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or inventory management
  • College diploma or university degree considered an asset
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Strong data entry accuracy and advanced mathematical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, and inventory control processes
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced environment
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Exceptional communication skills verbal, written, and email correspondence
  • Physical ability to perform warehouse duties (lifting, bending, standing for extended periods)
  • Knowledge of safety standards, lean practices, and continuous improvement processes
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Valid Reach Truck, Power Walkie, and Scissor Lift licenses are mandatory
