Job summary

A community support organization in Calgary is looking for a full-time employee to handle donations, including sorting and grading items. Experience / Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year experience sorting and grading shoes, purses, belt
  • Experience processing donations by opening, sorting for usable and unusable items, placing them on the sorting line for further processing while protecting the integrity of the donations
  • Complies with all safety policies and procedures
  • Experience in maintaining a tidy and safe workspace and knowledge of maintenance guidelines for equipment associated with the shoes line
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
You can expect

To join a hands‑on work environment where you will be required to physically move through our operation while adhering to daily goals. We are operational 7 days a week and schedule our employees based on operational needs; days, evenings, weekends and holidays (Please note: our stores are open for shopping Monday to Saturday and Sundays we are open to receive donations). You will undergo applicable screening and background checks, successfully, that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion. Working hours are Tuesday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm and Saturday – Sunday 10 am to 6 pm.

Working Conditions

This is a permanent full‑time position. Physically capable of lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis; frequent lifting, carrying, standing, walking, bending and twisting. Ability to work in a variety of environments (exposure to heat, cold, dust, etc.). As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all of our employees, CSA‑approved footwear is required for all Retail and DRC positions within NRO.

This position is posted for Calgary DRC 112 Freeport Cres. Bay 17, Calgary AB T3J 0S9.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $21.00 to $21.60 with a maximum of $22.20.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity and candidate experience, skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
