Job summary

Van Kam Freightways Ltd has immediate availability for a full-time warehouse dock worker in our Prince George terminal. This role requires prior freight handling/warehouse experience and experience handling hazardous materials, forklift experience, and 5-ton P&D experience.

The successful candidate will work in a high-pressure, high-volume setting with critical time frames. Training will be provided, and a current forklift operator certificate is an asset.

Qualifications

• Previous freight handling/warehouse experience.
• Experience handling hazardous materials is an asset.
• Forklift experience or certification is preferred.
• Ability to work a Tuesday–Saturday schedule.

Responsibilities

• Handle LTL freight in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
• Operate forklift and assist with loading and unloading tasks.
• Ensure on-time dock operations and quality loading to minimize damages.
• Adhere to safety procedures and cross-docking processes.

This position requires previous freight handling/warehouse experience and experience handling hazardous materials, forklift experience, and 5-ton pickup and delivery (P&D) experience.

Van-Kam Freightways Ltd. (Van Kam) is one of the largest regional carriers in Western Canada specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8 terminal locations across British Columbia, we fulfill shipments to communities within 1-3 days throughout BC and Alberta. Between our own resources and our partner network, our coverage extends beyond Western Canada into the U.S. and Eastern Canada.

We require the following:

• All LTL freight is cross docked
• Schedules depart on time
• High level of load factor
• Quality loading to minimize damages
• Ability to work schedule of Tuesday to Saturday.

The successful candidate(s) will be working in a high-pressure, high-volume atmosphere with critical time frames.

Training will be provided.

A current forklift operator certificate is an asset.
